What is a "sarahiscasual" review?

It sucks when things are too pretentious :( And why should film/cultural criticism be abstruse or unenjoyable to read? It’s literally a movie? So, Sarah takes a humorous, sort of stream-of-consciousness approach to criticism that mirrors discussing a movie with a friend.

However, she takes the social responsibility of mainstream art very seriously. A “sarahiscasual”review, thus, will call out if a piece of art is helping or hindering, and let you know who among the cast was especially hot. It’s populist, maximalist, comedic, camp, curious, grungy, yet elevated. Just go with it, like that Adam Sandler movie!

All About Sarah

Who, me?  Sarah Anne Lovett (she/her) is a 24-year-old New York-based writer, content creator, and life-long entertainment obsessive. A recent graduate of Vanderbilt University with degrees in Film and Theater, she is now embarking on a career in writing and yapping about what she loves most.

After having spent her childhood watching far too much TV, her teen years doing far too many school plays, and escaping the beginnings of her adulthood at too many arthouse movie theaters, Sarah decided to actually make good use of all that consumption and escapism! She built a following online (currently 140K+) reviewing movies during the pandemic, which snowballed into continued opportunities within the social media world. Now, Sarah has been a featured writer for MovieWeb, TheCinemaGroup, and more. She is finding new ways to expand her unique brand as a freelance film critic every day.

Sarah will watch absolutely anything. She has next-to-no standards. However, since you're asking, Sarah primarily enjoys anything that could be described as "slice of life", romantic comedies, and comedies in general! She has seen practically every sitcom ever made and shows no signs of stopping. Sarah also has a particular tolerance for marathoning movies, having recently watched every Best Picture winner (her TikTok series chronicling the matter was her first major “claim to fame”). There is also a special place in her heart for "bad" movies, and she is currently embarking on a similar marathon of all the Razzies Worst Picture winners.

Aside from being the first woman to watch a film, Sarah has many sides to her. She can cry. She can dance in the rain like no one is watching. She can spend a lot of time in bed. She cannot do a cartwheel (never could). She’s just like you or I! Sarah enjoys crosswords, crochet, dogs, doing bits, the window seat, musicals, birdwatching, and other old people stuff. She proudly hails from El Paso, Texas.
